SimpleSTORY - According to The New York Times, local authorities have reported at least half a dozen murders over the past decade allegedly sparked by people singing the song so badly in the country's multitude of karaoke bars that it led to violence.
"The trouble with 'My Way' is that everyone knows it and everyone has an opinion," amateur singer Rodolfo Gregorio said.
"I used to like 'My Way', but after all the trouble I stopped singing it. You can get killed."
The problem has now become so marked that local media has started to label the phenomena the "'My Way' killings".
In the wake of the deaths, many venues in the region are reportedly pulling the track from their songbooks in a bid to stem further bloodshed.
