SimpleCELEB - The actress backed concerns voiced by aid agencies and government officials surrounding the risk of child trafficking in the post-earthquake confusion.
Speaking during a visit the country's capital Port-au-Prince, the goodwill ambassador for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees told CNN: "Trafficking has been a huge problem for a very long time. Everybody that means well needs to really take that very seriously and not get frustrated, but really work with the country.
"For somebody who is an adoptive parent, I understand the urge to assist in that way. But now is not the time, an emergency is not the time for new adoptions in any way."
Jolie, 34, said the Haitian people showed "extraordinary" resilience, adding: "You see little kids that have lost their legs and you ask them if they are all right and they say they're okay, and somehow they are able to smile. I think that says a lot about them.
"I think we have a moral duty to do what we can for any country that's suffering."
Jolie and partner Brad Pitt have six children, including two adopted sons and an adopted daughter. [digitalspy.com@satw]
